The Department of Political Science regularly hosts a vibrant mix of academic, non-academic, and cultural events, fostering holistic growth, critical thinking, and community engagement among students.













POLITY'25
27TH & 28TH March
POLITY 25, was organized on 27th and 28th of March, 2025 with the theme "राष्ट्र द्वंद्व-The Paradoxes in India" with events ranging from exciting competitions and vibrant cultural performances on 27th March, followed by enriching and intellectually stimulating discussions and sessions on 28th March. On Day 1, five competitions- Siyasat-e-Safarnama (past-present group discussion), Dastan-e-Rajneeti (Political cartoon making). Debate Cometition, Politi'q (Political Quiz) and Ailan-e-Hind (Manifesto-speech competition) were successfully conducted. This was followed by captivating and enchanting cultural performances were held at the amphitheater. On Day 2, speaker sessions and panel discussions of eminent personalities like Vidhu Verma (author), Priyanka Chaturvedi (hon' Member of Parliament), Montek Singh Ahluwalia (formr deputy chairman of planning commission), Shazia Ilmi (spokesperson of BJP) and Sanjay Kumar (Director, CSDS), ending the grand annual fest of the department.




DEPARTMENTAL ELECTIONS'24
20TH SEPTEMBER
The Department of Political Science, Hindu College, recently held its Student Council elections on 20th September 2024, and the following students were elected to key positions for the academic year:

Sagar Diwakar was elected as President.

Krishn Kumar Gupta was elected as Vice President.
-
Shachi Agnihotri was elected as General Secretary.
-
Parth Kalra and Bhavya Shukla were jointly elected as Joint Secretaries.
These elected students will be responsible for representing the department and ensuring smooth functioning of various academic and extracurricular activities throughout the year. The election was conducted in a democratic and fair manner, with active participation from the department's students. Congratulations to the newly elected team!

























FRESHERS'24
5TH OCTOBER
On October 5, 2024, the Department of Political Science hosted a memorable freshers' celebration themed 'Prom: Devil and Divine.' The event was a thrilling mix of heavenly shines and mischievous vibes, blending elegance with playful spirit. Whether donning halos or flexing horns, the legends of PolSo embraced the night with style and grace. The seniors brought their own flair, giving the juniors some stiff competition!

SIYASAT'25 LAUNCH & N.N. AGARRWAL PAPER PRESENTATION COMPETITION
15TH APRIL
The Department of Political Science hosted the N.N. Agarrwal Paper Presentation Competition, where seven teams presented papers on the theme “Echoes of the Constituent Assembly: Contemporary Reflections on Unresolved Constitutional Debates.”
St. Stephen’s College secured the first position.
The event also saw the launch of Siyasat, the department’s annual magazine, by Professor Ujjwal Kumar Singh. Both events highlighted the department’s commitment to critical inquiry and academic engagement.

















ALUMNI MEET
19TH APRIL
The Department of Political Science hosted its Alumni Meet 2025, bringing together over 40 alumni from diverse fields including academia, civil services, law, media, and development sectors.
The evening was a wholesome celebration of memories, mentorship, and meaningful conversations, as former students reconnected with their peers and faculty. The event reflected the department’s enduring bond with its alumni and its rich legacy of shaping thought leaders across generations.











FAREWELL'25
6TH MAY
GANDHI ASHRAM VISIT
21ST OCTOBER
The students of the Political Science Department, Hindu College went on an educational visit to The Harijan Sevak Sangh which was founded in 1932 by Mahatma Gandhi with the aim of promoting the welfare of 'Harijans'.
With the help of this excursion, the students got an opportunity to understand how the Sangh functioned and what the various initiatives taken by the Sangh were. These included steps taken in the field of EDUCATION such as the establishment of a school, a hostel for girls belonging to the underprivileged sections of the society as well as a library having a plethora of books. The students were also briefed about the measures taken in the field of HEALTH AND SANITATION which included conducting health camps and surveys to raise awareness and improve the conditions of the marginalized sections.

DEPARTMENTAL TRIP
31ST-4TH FEBRUARY
The Department of Political Science organized a departmental trip to Dharmashala-Triund-McLeodganj, Himachal Pradesh, exploring mountains, monasteries, local markets, art museum, HPCA cricket stadium and an adventurous trek at Triund. The students made ever lasting memories with bonfires, DJ night and fun activities all along
SPORTS DAY
3RD MARCH
On 3rd March, the Sports Complex of Hindu College came alive with a vibrant Sports Day, filled with fun activities like kho-kho and pithoo. It was a day where students relived the innocence of childhood, momentarily escaping academic pressures to embrace joy, camaraderie, and the simple pleasures of play once again

"dilli ke dil mein kaun?"
Last week of January 2025
1. Dilli Ke Dil Mein Kaun?- a series of ground reporting, was a first-of-its-kind completely student led initiative which explored the ground realities of the Delhi State Elections 2025. With over 50 passionate students diving deep into the heart of Delhi, covering constituencies, unraveling public opinion and exploring the pulse of Delhi.
2. Student Accommodation in Delhi-a ground reporting series by the students to unravel the conditions of student living areas in various parts of Delhi and bring into light the struggles faced by the student community

The Department of Political Science, Hindu College organized a departmental trip to RASHTRAPATI BHAWAN Main Building on October 6th 2024. Discovering the stunning architecture and rich legacy, was an enriching experience for every visitor!
PARLIAMENT VISIT
27TH FEBRUARY
On 27th February, the third-year students of Hindu College stepped into the halls of Parliament, where history is written and democracy comes to life. It wasn't just a visit-it was a chance to feel the pulse of our nation's governance.
ONLINE SPEAKER SESSIONS
College, Careers and the UPSC Dream, by IRS Tushar Negi- This webinar, organized on 21st February, 2025 discussed the ins and outs of navigating the challenging journey of managing college life with UPSC preparation. As a proud alumnus of the Political Science Department, Hindu College, his experiences helped the students stay focused and motivated.
Turning Challenges into Triumphs, by Dr. Cpt. Sunaina Singh on 26th February where she shared her invaluable insights on resilience, leadership, and success!
SPEAKER SESSIONS
Speaker Session on Indian Constitutionalism undertaken by Prof. Ujjawal Kumar Singh. The session organized on 12th November, 2025 explored the visions of Gandhi, Ambedkar, and Dakshayani Velayudhan.
Book Discussion on 'The Backstage of Democrcay' by Dr. Amogh Dhar Sharma on 28th February. 2025. This discussion offered a deep dive into the unseen dynamics of democracy, providing valuable insights into its inner working.
Speaker session on 'Ramayana-Ideas, Ideals, and Comparisons' by IRS Tarun Kumar on 19th March, 2025 where he discussed various perspectives on the great epic of Ramayana and compared it with the western concepts.
